Someone, whether it be a friend or a total stranger, has fallen asleep on you wherever you happen to be; you are a rather comfortable pillow to them.

Mina is concentrating on embroidery work in a brightly-lit sitting room, completely focused on a rather lovely finch.

Aiden's eyes are only half open as he wanders in, clearly not very awake if the way boneless way he flops down next to her is any indication. He leans his head against her leg through the skirts, hands going up to hold the fabric.

"Mommy." he murmurs sleepily, eyes already drifting shut.

He does have several ruffles to hang onto.

The child startles her out of her concentration, and her eyes widen rather hugely at being called 'mommy.'

There's a multitude of feelings at this situation, including maternal regret that she'll likely never be a parent, having rejected the prospect of marriage against her parents' wishes.

He's so tired that she doesn't wish to wake him, so instead she sets her needlework aside, and puts a gentle hand on his head, running her hand soothingly through his hair. His mother will be along eventually, she's certain.

Already asleep Aiden leans unashamedly into the touch, which he still assumes is from his mother. He murmurs something sleepily, but it's too slurred to be decipherable.

It's been a very busy day for him and he's quite tired, glad to be able to sleep now. Going home seems like too much effort so he's happy Mommy seems to be staying here for the time being.

They had steadily grown worse. Each one feeling more real, digging into her senses with terrifying accuracy. She could always feel the pain, the warmth of blood rolling down her skin, the snapping and dislocations of bones and joints, or the crude blades hacking and tearing the flesh from her body . Sometimes it was hers, other times familiar faces of those she hadn’t been able to save. Those were the worst, and she would wake up drowning in heavy feelings of guilt and sadness, tears having already soaked her cheeks. Luckily, though they were powerful, those nightmares were rare.

Despite the extra effort she put in exhausting herself in hopes of a dead sleep, she again found herself in Kijuju with Chris. The familiar noise of return fire and whizzing rounds felt almost surreal now, as many times as she’s returned to this stage. Methodically, she moved through the level, taking cover between accurate disposals of Majini. She knew the map like the back of her hand at this point, and a feeling of dread welled up in her chest.

Ahead of her hung a writhing sack that oozed with slime, the choking stench of it filling her lungs and feeding her fear. She approached it cautiously, one deliberate step at a time, knowing that one of them would cause the sack to burst and produce a Reaper. Her heart pounded in her chest as she took the tiniest of steps forward. Nothing. One more. Still nothing.

Her foot had barely moved when she heard the screech. She winced at the painful decibels, a shiver running down the length of her spine as her heart threatened to burst from her chest. Sheva immediately turned heel and ran, attempting to put some distance between herself and the bug-like BOW.

“Come on!” She yelled at her partner, urging him to shoot before its protective shield went up, before it reached her. Gunfire filled her senses as bullets whizzed past her. There wasn’t time to check if the shots hit their mark. Not that it mattered. In these realer than life nightmares, Sheva usually ended up dead. The time it took that to happen and the method had become the variables.

Tonight, she didn’t have long to wait.

With a hooking lunge, the Reaper caught her with a hooked arm. Pain exploded through her and she screamed as it dragged her closer, to her death. Adrenaline made the blood run quicker. It slid down her shoulder, following the path of her now useless arm hanging at her side. Time seemed to slow as it caught her neck in its pinchers, its fetid breath choking her alongside the force of the grip. She struggled, even though she knew it was pointless.

Searing, ripping pain slammed into her abdomen and she screamed. Even as blood choked its way into her mouth she screamed, her hands clawing at her stomach, feeling blood and insides as the Reaper continued to tear her apart. She should have died by now. Time stood still though, and so did her torment.

In reality, she writhed and screamed in her bed, trapped in the sheets and drenched in sweat, hands pawing at her stomach to no end.

Nightmares aren't a stranger to any of the people in the crew quarters, but Kaidan, through accident or design, has drawn the lower half of the next bunk over. Design, probably, as all too often he's actually doing his sleeping in the observation lounge, blessedly dim and quiet and a good refuge for a migraine-ridden biotic to hide. Tonight, though, he's placed to snap awake and slip out of his bunk and over to hers, mindful of the writhing, flailing limbs and motioning a couple other woken sleepers to stay back -- he's got this.

"Sheva," he murmurs to her, trying to see if sound alone will get through. When it doesn't, he reaches out a hand, not bothering to ground himself and shed biotic charge, so that "Sheva," is called again, but with a tingle in the the contact of bare hand to bare shoulder that might trigger sense memory where conscious thought is inaccessible.

It has the desired effect, her eyes snapping open as she sat up with a gasp, shaking as she attempts to gather her bearings and identify the surroundings. When she realizes what had happened, she finds herself torn between embarrassed and residual anger for letting the memories get the better of her in front of the crew, Kaidan especially. Soldiers didn't cry, so she blinks back the automatic onslaught of tears that threatened to spill free.

"How long was I...?" She finally asks, voice shaking despite her efforts, which she quickly tries to mask by attempting to peel away the damp, clinging sheets. Like in her dream, her motions were futile, their usually dexterity lost in the adrenaline still pumping its way through her system. Eventually, she simply gives up and lays back down with a frustrated noise that sounded almost like a whimper of defeat. "I'm sorry I woke you."

"It happens -- on a boat like this, it happens more than most," Kaidan assures quietly, settling more comfortably into a crouch beside her bunk. "I wouldn't have woken you up, but that last one looked like a nasty one."

His manner is matter-of-fact -- not lacking in sympathy, but neither irritable or amused.

[ Have a Juudai, curled up on Jim like he is a particularly comfortable pillow. Wow, that impromptu Red sleepover-competing-with-that-rich-jerk's-party turned into quite a thing, huh? ]

[Jim liked the Red dorm. It was small and comfortable enough, much more suitable to him than the expansive and luxury rooms in the Obelisk dorm. He likes wide spaces, but open ones, and why have a big room if he's not going to be in it most of the time..?

Besides, the Red dorm had some of his friends, and Judai even made a place to nap for Karen. (On his bed, but hey, who's caring?)

So when Judai suddenly falls on his shoulder while he was in the middle of conversing about his deck, he merely laughs.] Hey, Judai. Did you party too hard with Dino-boy?

[ Juudai just snuggles closer and mutters: ]

Mmm... kinna didn't sleep much las' night.

[ Which begs the question of why he scheduled a sleepover for this night - ah, fuck it, Juudai clearly does what he wants. ]

[Not getting nearly enough sleep is nothing new at all to Yusei. What is new is finding himself falling asleep on someone's shoulder. And what makes it even more strange?

He doesn't know this guy at all. Whoops.]

[Jim hadn't planned on taking a bus. He usually enjoyed taking walks, but for some reason, watching the world go by from behind a moving clear glass window seemed like a way to waste an hour or two. So here he is, currently nestled in between the bus wall and...

...a stranger?]

Hey...you all right, mate? [He whispers, content either way if the man wakes up or just stays asleep.]

[Now here's a completely different kind of person that's napping on Jim. She seems content to be curled up next to him, her head over his chest as she subconsciously listens to his heartbeat. How she ended up like that, who knows, but it's easy to tell that she's a girl that likes to cuddle.]

[One minute he had his eye closed, enjoying the sounds of the ocean. The next, a petite red-head was sleeping beside him.

He doesn't know who this girl is, or why she had opted to sit next to him and use him as a pillow. Still, he shifts a bit to accommodate her more comfortably as he leans against one of the walls of the pier, silently wondering why the beach wasn't crowded at all.

But Karen doesn't seem to mind, so he's okay with it.]

[To say Shou was tired would be a bit of an understatement. Hence why he's fallen asleep on Jim instead of watching Aniki make a fool of himself with Johan.

[No Shou, he doesn't mind at all. Considering the mass quantity of energy the two have alone, then putting them together in a room as small as the Osiris dorm, Jim'd probably fall asleep whenever he could too, if he had to watch them.

Although he does hum a bit, seeing if it'll give a rise out of the short duelist. Just making sure he's okay.]
