the horror movie/location meme
Use random.org to decide on a movie and then one of the prompts that follow. Or just choose one and play it out! Or, if you want to cover all the prompts in a movie subject, feel free! Additionally, if you want to use any of the locations provided, go ahead! If you just want to play in those settings, go right ahead!
If there's something on here that you don't see listed and you want to play it, go ahead!
01) SAW:
a) You and a friend/relative/acquaintance have woken up in a dark, dingy room and are chained together - quite literally. Will you be able to get out or is this your final moment? Better hurry up because the clock's ticking.
b) Perhaps you decided to lock this person up and test them to see if they really do appreciate their life. Will you listen to their pleas for help or just sit back and watch them suffer?
c) Congratulations! You survived your trap! Now, how has your life changed or are you still committing the same crime you were judged for months later?
02) Final Destination:
a) You have just seen your friends/loved ones die in horrific ways in the area you're at. Do you try to save who you can and be labeled as batshit or do you just accept your fate?
b) It seems like Death is claming its' victims one by one and you two are next. Do you try to outrun it, thinking you can escape Death or decide that it's your time to go?
c) Lucky you. The two of you have managed to elude Death for all this time. But, it seems like Death has other plans for you. Better watch yourself.
03) The Ring:
a) You've received a mysterious tape from a friend. Do you decide to watch it with a friend or try to destroy it? Though, a phone call will result with someone saying, "Seven days..."
b) Thought it was just a fluke? Guess again. A creepy girl starts to climb out of your TV and wants to kill you. What do you try to do?
c) You've survived! But, wait - someone's deciding to watch this very same tape! Stop them before it's too late!
04) Battle Royale:
a) You and someone else have just woke up in a strange room on the promise you're going on a vacation. And now, someone's telling you that this is a game for a television show and you're the star. You're given a weapon, but do you decide to go through with killing everyone else in this room or try to fight through the influence?
b) You've decided to go through with killing these people. After all, all you want to do is go home to your family, right? But, your best friend is your target now. What will you do?
c) Good luck on surviving the program! Or is it really the end? It seems like The Program isn't done screwing with you yet. Do you take who you can and hightail it to another country or resign yourself to another round of it?
05) The Birds:
Oh no, the birds have gone batshit! Do you try to deal with them yourself like the badass you think you are or do you take cover and hide?
06) A Nightmare on Elm's Street:
a) Last night you had the craziest dream! You were stalked through a dark boiler room by a severely burned figure with sharp knives attached to the fingers on a glove on his right hand. Your pursuer closes in and slices you, but just as he's about to do you in you woke up. But wait, why do you have cuts in your pajamas? That didn't really happen, right...? Maybe you should talk to a friend about this. Hope the same thing didn't happen to them....
b) So you've succesfully managed to pull the psycho killer out of his dream world and into reality. He's only human. Hope you have a good plan and those booby traps you and your friend set up around the house will get the job done.
c) Congrats! You survived and your friends who were all brutally murdered have magically come back to life! How do you cope with this? At least it will be safe to sleep now. Or is it...?
07) Paranormal Activity:
a) A good friend of yours recently told you that they've been haunted by some sort of presence for as long as they can remember and... it's not exactly friendly. Problem is, they just moved and they're pretty sure whatever it was has followed them to their new home. They sound pretty worried, but there's no way any of this is real, right? Maybe you should head over and set up some cameras. If anything it'll make your friend feel better and you can both get a good laugh out of it.
b) So. Something actually showed up on that tape and you've been told that this presence isn't a ghost. Oh no, it's something much worse. You've got a demon after you. It feeds off of negative energy and is intent on tormenting you no matter where you go. You probably shouldn't provoke it. Who knows what'll happen.
c) You and a friend have come across a series of tapes. They look to be home videos, amateur paranormal investigations of someone's home. What you see on them is... disturbing to say the least. Deformed shadows on the walls, doors opening and closing on their own, screeches and screams coming from something that is clearly not human. The more you watch, the worse it gets and it quickly becomes apparent that whoever filmed this is most likely dead. What do you do with this information? Do you go investigate yourself? Turn the tapes over to the police? Or maybe just write it all off, believe it's not real. It's gotta be an indie film or something, man.
08) Silent Hill:
a) You've just received a letter from a friend/sibling/parent/lover/significant other. Problem is, they're, well how to put this gently... they're kind of dead. The letter tells you to meet them in some town you've never heard of. Maybe you feel guilty, maybe you think it's some sort of sick trick and want to go punch whoever sent the letter in the face, or maybe... maybe you're just curious, but whatever your reason, you do as the letter says. Upon your arrival you run into someone who looks oddly familiar...
b) It's been hours and you're no closer to finding out the truth behind this letter than you were when you arrived. You decide to explore an abandoned hotel and as you search it you come across a videotape. You're hesitant to watch it, but this could give you more information. But... wait... is that you? And this other person... it's the one who sent you the letter. Wait. Wait. Why does it look like you're killing them?
c) Oh, crap. Pyramid Head is around the corner. Better start running!
01) Graveyard: Pretty spooky place to be at this time of night, huh? Hopefully this place isn't haunted by evil spirits or inhabited by a serial killer on the loose!
02) Mental Institution: Even with this place being abandoned, you can't help but hear the moans and screams of previous patients in these walls. Perhaps there's some deep, dark secret you can uncover here or maybe you'll also end up losing your own mind.
03) Abandoned Theme Park: Everything here is rusted completely, but you swear you can hear the screams of children on rides, among other things. Do you decide to investigate the place and try to figure out the secrets or do the sounds of kids screaming spurs something deep inside you?
04) Haunted House: Oh, boy! Let's go exploring! It seems like the wallpaper is already peeling and... what's that metallic smell coming from the basement? And what's with the doors opening and slamming closed? Hope you have a flashlight handy to make it through the night.
05) Church: Such a beautiful place, isn't it? But, are you sure you aren't hearing voices in an area where it's supposed to be quiet? Or, for that matter, are you sure you're not hallucinating seeing a god? And, it seems like the doors are closed already...
06) Random Area: You wake up in an unfamiliar location with there being no one around. The sheriff isn't in town, nor is the mayor or, quite frankly, anyone but another poor sap that woke up in this area. Hopefully you two can make it out of here alive before becoming a part of the town like the other visitors.
07) Hotel: There was nothing in sight for miles, so you and a friend decided to stop by at this rinky dink motel with the lights flickering every so often and everyone else just seeming complacent about being stuck in such a place. Perhaps there's something omnious about the bathroom's smell or what reeks in your room. At least there's HBO.
08) Zombies: Looks like popular media wasn't kidding when they said the undead would rise again in your town. Hope you have what you need to fend off the zombies and know what to do against them!

She does weave past him, nudging the stall doors open first and foremost. Empty. Only one way in.
She jerks her head back, keeping him close to the wall, sets herself between him and the door. And waits, gun trained on the paint peeling off the wood. The further up they went, the worst it would get. That's just how this place works.]

Schlup.
His gaze darts to the mirror, his eyes wide and face ghostly pale with the flashlight turned away from him. He just manages to spot it--something thick squeezing through a partly-open ventilation grate near the ceiling, sliding into the shadows by the furthest stall.
His hand closes on her arm.]
A-Adele...
no subject
And that only serves to make her more tense, shoulders locked up to the point of trembling, the light she has clipped on wavering against the door. Casting tiny shadows from where the paints peeled, inches of fingers swaying left and right.
Left and right.
Schlup.
Shit-
She jumps at the hand on hr arm, turns and brings the gun up to bear. The light skitters across tile, stalls, over the peeling walls and grimy sinks, flashing in the mirror until it illuminates the corner with the ventilation grate. Something thick. Something wet. Something awful.]
no subject
As soon as the light catches it it rears up, flailing, and spits a stream of fluid from its mouths.]

With his hearing muffled by the shot, he can't perceive the squelch as part of those entrails go flying, but he does see the thing squirm for cover beneath one of the sinks, going for Adele from the darkness.]
no subject
It wasn't there- not anymore. She turns in a slow circle, eyes low-
movement under the sink.
She fires. She cant' hear a damn thing, not anymore, but that'll be dealt with later.]
no subject
Clyde, meanwhile, is hastily shrugging out of his coat and unbuttoning his dress shirt, breathing pained and fast.]
no subject
It's nothing but twisted wet sinew, organs and gore.
...the worst of the injuries in the trauma ward, then. It made sense- a horrific kind of sense. Elbow deep in entrails indeed.
It takes a long while for her to be able to hear anything beyond the ringing in her ears from the gunshots- but gradually, vaguely Clyde's panting registers. Hurt. He's hurt. The gun goes back in her shoulder holster and she turns to look.]
What hit you?
no subject
[His hands are shaking badly as he attempts to get through the last of the buttons, the damp part of the white fabric already discoloring to a yellowish hue.]
no subject
[And they've got no way of canceling the reaction. Shit. Adele turns and starts screwing the taps, fingers sliding against grit and rust and age- they squeal unpleasantly when the taps finally turn. God only knows if pure water will come out the end.]
no subject
And should Adele take a look around the bony arch of his spine, she might notice that that's not the only damage. Other portions of his skin are purplish or greenish in hue, with crusting and ulceration, like the beginnings of gangrene.]
no subject
Ideally they'd have plenty of time- but. Something in this place spurs a sense of urgency.
All she can focus on is getting water from the second sink onto his skin- until she sees his shoulder. His spine. Purpled and scabbed and all but rotten.]
...Clyde. Your back.
no subject
Adele's worried comment makes him turn, similar discoloration and necrosis showing on the front of his torso. He looks emaciated, his ribs and collarbones jutting out in sharp relief, as though he's been ill for a long time.]
Did some get on my back, too?
no subject
[Adele has completely abandoned any attempts to help him rinse the bile off of him in favor of staring at the ragged mess that was his torso. It was. He shouldn't be so gaunt, he shouldn't be covered with scabs and the beginnings of gangrene. He'd be in pain. He wouldn't be able to keep up with her at all.
How does this reflect on her psyche?]
What the fuck is wrong with you?
no subject
Just because I'm the manager of your therapy doesn't mean I'm free from the effects of your emotional trauma. It shows on me as this deterioration, just as it reduces the rest of our surroundings to a state of disrepair.
[Feeling traces of the acid on him, he leans over the sink again and splashes some more water on his back before retrieving his shirt, wetting it and squeezing it out. It'll be cold and clingy to put back on, but it isn't as though he has anything to change into.]
no subject
no subject
[He smiles slightly.] You want yourself to succeed, Adele. That's why you've given the 'self' you have here a fighting chance.
[Besides, he isn't suffering. Much. Not to the degree an actual person would in his condition, anyway.]
no subject
...
Her subconscious is an idiot. But. She'll take advantage of it as best she can, for whatever it's worth.]
What do I have to get over, what do I have to face to get this off of you? Because I cannot in good conscious continue leading you through this place while you're like this Clyde. I refuse. Tell me what we have to discuss, what macabre memory or irritation I must talk about to make this go away.
no subject
We have to keep going. We've already identified through discussion what problems you have and will see manifested, and only facing them in the forms they've taken will improve matters. That's simply the way this scenario is set up.

[She's not normally a violent woman. Not to this extreme, even with what happened to land her in this coma. She's not. She won't ever be. But.
But.
For him. For what good memories she has with Clyde? She will.
Adele nodes to herself, refills the chamber on her revolver and tucks it into her shoulder rig.]
My mind, yes? My rules. I want for there to be...an. Assault rifle. In that stall. With extra ammunition. And grenades.
[She has no idea if this will work. But with as much as she'll have to fight to make him less of a mess? She'll need more than the revolver. And she'll be damned if she doesn't give herself more of a sporting chance.]

[She snorts and shakes her head, starting back to the door. She's still a moment, listening for any movement in the hallway.]
It might have been stretching my luck, but. It was worth a shot, at the very least.
no subject
[He gives a quiet laugh, putting his arms through the sleeves of his soaked shirt and doing the buttons. He doesn't bother with the lab coat, though he does fold it up and set it on one of the radiators on an impulse of neatness before taking his place at her back.]
no subject
It's clear.
